I walk around the school hallways and look at the people. I look at the teachers and wonder why they're here. If they like their jobs. Or us. And I wonder how smart they were when they were fifteen. Not in a mean way. In a curious way. It's like looking at all the students and wondering who's had their heart broken that day, and how they are able to cope with having three quizzes and a book report due on top of that. Or wondering who did the heart breaking. And wondering why.
Every breath that is in your lungs is a tiny little gift to me.
We accept the love we think we deserve.

I long to accomplish a great and noble tasks, but it is my chief duty to accomplish humble tasks as though they were great and noble.

This is perhaps the darkest and most disturbing aspect of modern civilization: its ignorance and repression of who we really are.
It is by not always thinking of yourself, if you can manage it, that you might somehow be happy. Until you can make room in your life for someone as important to you as yourself, you will always be searching and lost....
Pick up a coin.

Imagine that it represents an object in your life which you are clinging on to, a loved one, or a material posession, or anything which your grasp on to dearly. Hold it tightly clutched in your fist and extend your arm, with the palm of your hand facing the ground. Now if you let go or relax your grip, you will lose what you are clinging on to. Offensive?

You will have learned to set priorities and make decisions.
You will have learned to live with your limitations.
You will have learned to give yourself the respect that is due.
And you'll be a most vital mortal.

Dare To Believe:

That you are a once-in-all-history event.
That it's more than a right, it's your duty, to be who you are.
That life is not a problem to solve, but a gift to cherish.

It strikes me that if you are going to be open enough with the outside world to place your journal online, you should not have to worry about someone being offended. Those people who choose to examine the world through your eyes by reading an entry must take what they find.
Love is giving someone else the power to hurt you, trusting them not to, forgiving them when they do, and knowing when it's time to let go.
The only people for me are the mad ones - the ones who are mad to live, mad to talk, mad to be saved, desirous of everything at the same time, the ones who never yawn or say a commonplace thing, but burn, burn, burn like fabulous yellow Roman candles.
I wanted a perfect ending. Now I've learned, the hard way, that some poems don't rhyme, and some stories don't have a clear beginning, middle, and end. Life is about not knowing, about having to change, about taking the moment and making the best of it, without knowing what's going to happen next. Delicious Ambiguity.

You are not a beautiful and unique snowflake. You are the same decaying organic matter as everything else. We are all a part of the same compost heap. Looking Back..

The things I thought were so important - because of the effort I put into them - have turned out to be of small value. And the things I never thought about, the things I was never able to either to measure or to expect, were the things that mattered.
I like living. I have sometimes been wildly, despairingly, acutely miserable, racked with sorrow, but through it all I still know quite certainly that just to be alive is a grand thing.

We have been taught to Fear the darkness..From the shadows of the unknown, where we tread softly looking for comfort.. the cold blackness of hate, which bubbles from the caverns deep within our mind. But if the absence of light is the absence of that which is reasonable; then it also marks the presence of faith and dreams...For where else do we rely on faith, but in those moments when we have no light to se by.

And our dreams, the noblest part of ourselves, are the seeds of truth, hiding in the soil of darkness until they are strong enough to push their way into the harsh light of reality. In darkness, we can find the quiet slumber of a much deserved rest... And the warm and gentle softness of a lovers embrace. While evil can use the light, to blind us with it's brilliance, and misery can overtake us, even in the brightest of dawns.
It is true that we don't know what we've got until we lose it, but it is also true that we don't know what we are missing until it arrives.

... sometimes you wake up, gazing out the window at the soft morning sun and you feel so alone. you go about your day hoping and praying that things will get better. Your dreams seems so farfetched and you feel as if you can't go on, but you do; for lack of anything better to do really. Underneath all your plastic smiles are real emotions, that only surface themselves when your exhausted and have to much time to just sit and think. All you want to do is crawl into a cozy bed with cold sheets and dream this feeling away.
But you can't because you know, that beautiful dream will turn into a horrible nightmare and when you wake up everything will be the same as it was before - dead.
You walk around in a complete daze, hearing what people say to you, but not really listening. You continue each and everyday dreaming of what's a head of you and trying not to focus on the past. You feel alone; like no one really cares. You dream of someone who will care for you and be there when this over whelming feeling of blankness envelopes your entire body, and you can't help but let that waterfall of tears spill over.
As hot tears run down your face; you lay back in bed, your head hitting that soft pillow and spinning with words ... you know someday everything will be ok; even though right now your world feels as if it is going to come crashing down around you and there's nothing you can do to stop it.

You sigh; telling yourself not to think anymore tonight ...


... then you find that one person; who makes you laugh, and smile. That one person who seems to make everything just alright. Suddenly your life is changed forever, and no matter how hard things get and no matter what happens you know you will be ok, just having them right by your side.
Life can be a funny thing sometimes; everyone is constantly searching for that person who understands them completely. Until you find that person your life can seem meaningless and somewhat mediocre but the instant you find them your life suddenly has a point and everything before that person seems like some odd collection of blurred events ... but everything after them seems like pure bliss.
If someone asked you to live your life over, you wouldn't even consider it because; maybe just maybe; you wouldn't bump into them again and life as you know it would no longer exist. As you look at what lays ahead of you; the continuous struggles and life's inevitable challenges; you know you can handle it; as long as you can wake up and see their beautiful smiling face right next to you.
No matter where you go in your life time; the sound of their voice and laughter, and the taste of their tears will follow you, not because you want it too, but because you can't breathe without it.
You build your world around someone, and then what happens when he disappears? Where do you go - into pieces; into atoms; into the arms of another man? You go shopping; you cook dinner; you work odd hours; you make love to someone else in june nights.

It's only his spirit, that's what's there beneath the bed when you kiss your husband, there when you send your daughter off to school. It's in your coffee cup, your bathwater, your tears. Unfinished business always comes back to haunt you, and a man who swears he'll love you forever isn't finished with you until he is done.

As Good As It Gets

What i do is watch. Have you ever watched somebody who doesn't know your watching them? Like a old women on the bus or kids going to school or somone just waiting? And you see this flash come over them, and you know it's nothing external becuase you've been watching them. And for a moment they are 'realer' and more alive, than ever before; and for a moment you discover their true humanity.
She wins who calls herself beautiful and challenges the world to change to truly see her.

When we were born we cried and the people around us smiled. Live life so that when you die you are smiling and the people around you are crying.
Don't live life believing that the only colours are the ones in the box.
Just because someone doesn't love you the way you want, doesn't mean they don't love you with all they have.
People are like stained glass windows: they sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light within.
Which is better: A lie that brings a smile? or a truth that draws a tear?
If you cannot be inspired, become the inspiration.
Twice in this life I've fallen in true deep love.

First, with you when I met you. Second, with the person you became once I already had you.
Why do we often say "The truth hurts", "the hard truth", "you can't handle the truth", etc?

Truth in and of itself need not be hard to bear or painful. It is only after becoming accustomed to living in lies that it becomes such. In my humble experience I've found the more one accepts the truth it generally becomes enjoyable, soothing, even blissful.
Renowned as a wise man who was filled with a zest for life and for life's adventures, the sage had one odd habit that provoked curiosity among the people. He always rode his mule backwards. Frequently people asked him about this habit.

He would respond, "In life, it makes no difference where one is going. The destination is unimportant. It is only what one does along the way that counts."

Then they would ask, "So how should we respond to life?"

He replied, "Do not become swollen with pride or triumph or despondent over defeat. Good fortune or bad fortune is unimportant. The vicissitudes of life are but the means to shape your character. If you suffer adversity and react in the proper way, in the long run you will be benefited as fully as though you had good fortune."
For the artistic ones, for the intelligent ones, for the really passionate people in life, they are always condemned and persecuted for being that way--because they're different. The reason is that these people can move mountains, and they're persecuted in life only when they can be. But later on in life, they become the people everyone aspires to be: the musicians, the artists, the writers.

That's one of the things that makes me want to succeed
Often we allow ourselves to be upset by small things we should despise and forget.
We lose many irreplaceable hours brooding over grievances that, in a year's time, will be forgotten by us and by everybody. No, let us devote our life to worthwhile actions and feelings, to great thoughts, real affections and enduring undertakings.
There only are two ways to radiate light:
Be a candle, or the mirror which reflects it.

It happens so suddenly. We are going about our own mundane tasks when - a phrase of music, a shaft of sunlight on a snowy roof, a handful of yellow butterflies, or the arc of a bird diving to the earth, pierces us.
For one brief moment, we are lifted out of our daily routine into the untold realms of light and beauty. Then the moment is gone. We are back on Earth - but we are not the same.
I do my thing, and you do your thing.
I am not in this world to live up to your expectations, and you are not in this world to live up to mine.
You are you, and I am I, and if by chance we find each other, it's beautiful.
If you're frightened of dying and then you hold on, you'll see devils tearing your life away. But, if you've made your peace, then the devils are really angels, freeing you from the earth.
It's hard to stay mad when there's so much beauty in the world. Sometimes I feel like I'm seeing it all at once and it's too much. My heart fills up like a balloon that's about to burst, and then I remember to relax and stop trying to hold on to it and it flows through me like rain and I can feel nothing but gratitude for every single moment of my stupid, little life.
You have no idea what I'm talking about, I'm sure, but don't worry. You will someday.
When the people we love are stolen from us the thing we have to remember is to never stop loving them. Buildings burn. People die, but true love is forever.
You have to know, not fear, that some day you are going to die. Until you know this and embrace it, you are useless.

If you fill your heart with regrets of yesterday and the worries of tomorrow, you have no today to be thankful for.
Look at everything as though you were seeing it either for the first time or last time. Then your time on earth will be filled with glory.
People need celebration in their life. It's part of what it means to be human. We need magic and bliss and power, myth, and celebration in our lives. And music is a good way to encapsulate a lot of it.
I want to spend the rest of my life everywhere, with
everyone, one to one, always, forever, now.
Only the one who hurts you can comfort you.
Only the one who inflicts the pain can take it away.
You are the most beautiful girl in the world. You are my dream.
You don`t love someone because they are beautiful, they are beautiful because you love them.
And two things would happen right before I died: I would regret my entire life; I would want to live it over again.
When a song bird gets sad, or faces adversity, he sings away his pain. Imagine how better off life would be, if we too, sang away our sorrows.
those who dance may be considered crazy by those who cannot hear the music.

A philosophy professor stood before his class and had some items in front of him. When class began, wordlessly he picked up a large empty jar and proceeded to fill it with rocks right to the top, rocks about 5" diameter. He then asked the students if the jar was full.

They agreed that it was.

So the professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them in to the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles, of course, rolled into the open areas between the rocks.

The students laughed.

He asked his students again if the jar was full.

They agreed that yes, it was.

The professor then picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled in between everything else.

"Now," said the professor, "I want you to recognize that this is your life. The rocks are the important things - your family, your partner, your health, your children - anything that is so important to you that if it were lost, you would be nearly destroyed.

The pebbles are the other things in life that matter, but on a smaller scale. The pebbles represent things like your job, your house, your car.
The sand is everything else. The small stuff.

If you put the sand or the pebbles into the jar first, there is no room for the rocks. The same goes for your life. If you spend all your energy and time on the small stuff, material things, you will never have room for the things that are truly most important.
Pay attention to the things that are critical in your life. Play with your children. Take your partner out dancing.
There will always be time to go to work, clean the house, give a dinner party and fix the garbage disposal."

Take care of the rocks first - the things that really matter.
